Phonics

Phonics is taught daily for at least thirty minutes for Reception and Key Stage 1 pupils. We follow the Twinkl Phonics scheme which includes a comprehensive, whole-school intervention scheme called Codebreakers.

In June of Year 1 all pupils will take the Phonics Screening Check. In addition, those children in Year 2 who did not meet the expected standard in the Phonics Screening Check whilst in Year 1, will have a re-check.

A Parent Workshop is held in the spring term to support families with the Phonics Screening Check and a Reading and Phonics workshop is held annually in the Autumn Term, focussed specifically on supporting parents in understanding how we teach phonics and reading and how they can enhance this learning at home.

On this page you can find lots of resources to help you understand what your child is learning in school and how you can support them at home.
