Phonics Pronunciation Guidance

We hope you will find this video helpful as a guide on how to correctly pronounce the different sounds our school covers in Foundation Stage and KS1 phonics lessons.
Maths

Here are some useful resources to help you support your children at home:
  • A progression document of written methods for each operation at each year group.  Do not worry if your child is not working at the stage which is specified for their age, it is important that your child is confident with each method before they move onto the next stage.
  • A set of number bond to 10 flashcards which the children are introduced to in Y1. It is imperative that all children learn these facts off by heart as they are a very important building block in their learning. The flash cards are rhyming and we also act them out to help the children learn them. The tricky part is learning them in reverse, e.g. 7 + 3 love to bungee (easy due to rhyme) However, 3 + 7 also = 10. Once the children have learnt their number bonds, they can then use them to work out fact families, e.g.
                                7 + 3 = 10
                               70 + 30 = 100
                            700 + 300 - 1,000
                         7,000 + 3,000 = 10,000

  • A vocabulary sheet which groups mathematical language into the 4 operations, e.g. The children need to understand when they are told to find the product of two numbers that this means they need to multiply.
